Traditional strained Greek style yogurt continues to lead the category. Wallaby, the challenger brand in the organic yogurt segment, didn’t jump in until they created the best tasting organic Greek yogurt on the shelf. Last month Gauger + Associate’s package design began shipping nationwide.
The cup design offered some unique challenges and opportunities for Gauger’s design team. The shape has more surface area, with an oval shaped principal display panel. The fruit cup is a second opportunity to display graphics.
The designers were able to utilize the new, state-of-the-art IML printing process to achieve subtle gradations of purple and gold, a dimensional type treatment and an appetizing illustrations of fruit and honey. The design has a sophisticated balance of color, shape and dimension.
The launch advertising – “Oh My Greek!” reinforces the phenomenal taste experience. The introduction coincides with the agency winning two American Packaging Design Awards this past month for Wallababy, yogurt for babies, and Wallaby’s Joey kids yogurt.
